My Background and Path into Therapy
Having been involved in the world of trade and commerce for over 30 years and run or owned successful businesses, I never gave too much thought to my own internal self and how I was coping.
In the late 1980s I was referred to a counsellor, and at that time I felt a little angry, ashamed and scared. My first thought was ‘I am not mentally ill’, and my second was ‘that no one must find out’. Anyway, to cut a long story short, it was a really positive experience and I was able to walk away from counselling feeling a lot more self aware and at ease.
10 years later, as life sometimes has it, I found myself in a position where I was being asked to listen to people who each in their own way had been traumatised. I realised if I was to do justice to these people I needed to acquire the skills necessary. So I embarked on my journey into counselling. It took me three years to qualify. I have been in active practice ever since.
Current Status:
Having worked for 6 years at a General Practice I continue to do voluntary and private work.
Today there is a lot less stigma about going to counselling or hypnotherapy; even so, people are wary and conscious of being judged by others.
If you have read this far, I suggest that it is likely that something or someone, maybe even yourself is troubling you. If that is the case, I can strongly recommend from personal experience you consider your inner well being.
Free Consultation:
The first appointment is always free of charge, without obligation. It is a chance to meet and to establish for yourself if what is being offered is suitable, desirable and affordable for you. Also it is an opportunity to ask any questions you want, to ensure that you are comfortable and ready to go forward.
